INDIAN OCEAN TSUNAMI WARNING SYSTEM PROPOSAL AND PROJECT DIRECTORY

The idea behind this directory is to help the IOC assess what concrete activities for developing warning capabilities are already ongoing, as well as activities countries or organizations wish to carry out but are seeking donors to help support their efforts.

Our hope is that this book of proposals and project descriptions, to be available in hardcopy at the Mauritius meeting, will assist us in our efforts to ensure a coordinated international approach, maximizing the speed and efficiency with which interim warning information is available while at the same time putting in place mechanisms to help ensure that the system can be maintained operationally over the long term. Additionally, we hope that the compilation will facilitate bilateral agreements between regional and donor countries and institutions and help to avoid duplicative efforts.

An email has been sent to a participants from each of the 27 countries bordering the Indian Ocean region, requesting to fill the below form by 29 March 2005.

You can also download the template HERE in MS-Word format. It should be filled and emailed to Keith Alverson (k.alverson@unesco.org) at the IOC Secretariat.
