UNESCO and Global Climate Change

UNESCO Climate Activities

Addressing climate change is not merely an environmental issue, but one that depends on a range of environmental, economic, information, social, cultural, gender, attitudinal and behavioural factors. Climate change calls for action in virtually all of the UNESCO’s fields of competence. UNESCO has over 40 activities relevant to climate change in natural sciences, culture, education, social sciences, and communication. These can be grouped into the framework of four of the six principal thematic priorities identified for the UN system response to global climate change.
