UNESCO and Global Climate Change

Renewable Energy Program
In order to meet the Millennium development targets and in line with UNESCO's Medium-Term Strategy, efforts will be made towards human resources development geared to promoting large scale use of sustainable and renewable energies, energy diversification and efficiency with emphasis on improving the living conditions in rural areas of poor countries, especially in the developing countries and small islands states. Priority will be given to capacity building and development of co-operation in renewable energy sector through the implementation of the Global Renewable Energy Education and Training (GREET) Program and its regional component with particular emphasis on its African Chapter.
